Day 2 - Dungeon to Table
Maybe you've been spending the year wanting to escape reality as well? Here's three of my favourite fantasy-inspired artists that came across my traps
Leading the pack is Castle Rat - A Medieval Fantasy Heavy Metal band led by ‘The Rat Queen,’ Riley Pinkerton on rhythm guitar and lead vocals. On her mission to expand and defend ‘The Realm’ from those who seek to destroy it, The Rat Queen is joined by ‘The Count,’ Franco Vittore, on lead guitar and backing vocals; ‘The Plague Doctor,’ Charley Ruddell on bass; and ‘The Druid,” Joshua Strmic, on drums. Together they face the relentless wrath of their arch nemesis: Death Herself — ‘The Rat Reaperess.” If this epic bio hasn't sold them to you already, the video for wizard will.
Around about my birthday, while rabbit-holing through similar-artists to get me through a torturous late-night gym session, Chainmail Commandos by Steröid fell into my lap. I was instantly smitten. It is bizarre, it is formulaic, it is comforting, it's kinda cheesy, but goddamn it is glorious. Warzone in the city opens this ripper of an album and the next 30 minutes are just as fast and fun.
Just in time for Christmas, we get the treat of a new music video from psych rock two-piece Earth Tongue with Dungeon Vision. I'm looking forward to the full album dropping in the new year!
