Radvent 2025
Wow, that's it. The ride of 2025 is coming to screeching halt. Before we know it, we will be on the 2026 train. All riled up with resolutions and firmly shutting the closet door on the dross of the last 12 months.
It's easy to be cynical. We exist in the timeline of decaying capitalism. A punctured donkey kicking in all directions. But hovering under all the bleakness has been a phenomenal year for indie music. Mouthy weirdos, geeky tune-makers, dissident freaks all creating light to peek through the cracks.
I love seeking out new music, and willingly wade through dozens of playlists to find nuggets and treasures. I 'm sick of the hierarchical end of year top 100 lists. Instead, I wanted to create a chocolate box taster of what I've heard this year. What's moved me, itched my brain in weird places, and given me various flavours of joy. Each of the 24 advent days is a different taster, with two or three rad songs that I've discovered over the course of 2025. They range from absolute bangers, to ridiculous earworms. Each one hand-picked to help me build a picture to remember the year by.
