The fortnightly five - 14 April 2026
A rundown of five fresh items on my headphones for the last fortnight.
Parlor Greens - Emeralds
Who isn't a sucker for a Hammond organ trio? This album is dripping with sass and grooves. The vibe on this is eclectic, even branching out to a sizzling cover of 'Jolene'. For me, it walks two worlds. Pop it on while whipping up a full hot-breakfast, psych yourself up then step out and take the world on. But it's also perfectly placed for dark nights with close friends. Whiskey in one hand, spliff in the other, Parlor Greens on the turntable. This is seasoned, soulful and super funky.

Fcukers - Ö
Ö fills me with glossy nostalgia for basement clubs and flat parties. It's a touch of electro indie with a touch of slacker. Bouncy and catchy lyrics breeze over the low-key house beats. It feels like sugar and concrete and that weird hour before pre-dawn.
missrosevalentina - BITE (feat. LATASHÀ)

Ōtautahi trans-glam provocateur and sonic visionary missrosevalentina demands no crumbs. This is a bird-flipping dance floor stomper. It's dirty, gritty, empowering and absolutely banging.

Angine de Poitrine - Vol.II
Extraordinary is a word that is used far too often, but in this case there is nothing ordinary about Angine de Poitrine and a whole lot extra and I am so OK with that. It's my first rodeo with them, and I am hooked. There are nerds out there who know more than me, with videos explaining what their sound is and how it works so magically. All I can add to the subject is that when this comes on, the meat-goblins in my brain are all doing various jigs of happiness.
Opus Kink - 'Come Over, Do Me Wrong'
Their first track from upcoming debut album 'The Sweet Goodbye' and I am fizzing to get my sticky hands on that whole album. If this is anything to go by, it's going to be jammed with filthy brass, slutty reverb, dirty post-punk-jazz effervescence and punching noir flavored holes into my soul. Drool........
